New Light Foundation Seeks Applicants for Scholarship


Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (April 28, 2003)- The New Light Foundation will award its second scholarship this summer to a high school student headed for a two- or four-year college.

The scholarship is currently funded by the proceeds from art sales of the New Light Gallery. Owners and artists Wendy White and Roland Ruocco are dedicated to helping young people pursue an education regardless of their financial circumstances through scholarships awarded by the New Light Foundation.

High school transcripts from the last three years, a mini-portfolio of three pieces of art, an essay and supporting statements from teachers and guardians are some of the requirements for the application process.

White and Ruocco began their artistic careers In New York and have shown their paintings, collectively, in more than 200 exhibits in the United States and in Europe. They are in their second year in a working gallery-studio in South Florida.

Through their outreach program they teach art to the community and provide art classes to the children at Kids in Distress.
