New Light Foundation Awards First Scholarship

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Fla (July 8, 2002) The New Light Studio and Gallery announced this week that it recently awarded its first scholarship through The New Light Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization established to assist students in need.

The foundation, serving students in Florida and throughout the nation, presented a scholarship to
Kathryn ("Kate") J. Cannizzaro, a 2002 graduate of Baron G. Collier High School in Naples, Florida. She will use the award for tuition at Florida Gulf Coast University next Fall.

The New Light Foundation's mission is to give young people the chance to pursue their dreams regardless of their financial circumstances. Scholarships are awarded to those students who not only display excellence in academics but also have a professional or personal objective.

"Kate is especially industrious and motivated to reach a professional goal", said Roland Ruocco who, with his wife, Wendy White, established the foundation. "She worked at a veterinary clinic for the last three years of high school to gain experience she wishes to bring to veterinary school. She's made significant sacrifices in her social life to pursue a dream while maintaining high academic standards."

"These qualities made her a fine candidate for our first award," added Wendy White. "We expect that she will set the bar for future candidates for the New Light Foundation's scholarships."
